Frequently Asked Questions – Sacramento Taco Party

Frequently Asked Questions

Sacramento Taco Party > Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Sacramento Taco Party?

The Sacramento Taco Party is a one night, charity taco cook-off and tasting event where 15 of the area's best restaurants cook up their top taco  so you can help decide who makes the best tacos in Sacramento.  It'll be a Taco Tuesday filled with freshly made tacos, craft beer, margaritas and live music in beautiful downtown Sacramento. If you've been to or heard about the Sacramento Burger Battle, the format will be very similar...but with tacos 🙂 All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Food Literacy Center.

When is the Sacramento Taco Party?

2016 marks the inaugural event for the Sacramento Taco Party. This year's event will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2016.  Consider it the Ultimate Taco Tuesday 🙂

What time is the event?

VIP ticket holders get in at 6 p.m. and General Admission ticket holders get in at 7 p.m. We'll be serving up tacos and fun until 10 p.m.

Where will the Sacramento Taco Party be held?

This year's Sacramento Taco will be held at Cesar Chavez Plaza in beautiful downtown Sacramento, CA.

Who is putting on this event?

The Sacramento Taco Party is being organized by Rodney Blackwell, founder of the Sacramento Burger Battle, as a fundraiser for the Food Literacy Center charity.

How much are tickets to the Sacramento Taco Party?

Stay tuned for ticket information 🙂 Tickets to this charity event will be all inclusive (meaning all tacos, drinks and voting will be included in the ticket price).

You mentioned a charity. Where is the money going?

Great question! The proceeds raised from the Sacramento Taco Party will benefit the Food Literacy Center charity

Why the Food Literacy Center? What is it?

The Food Literacy Center is a Sacramento based non-profit that educates children on the importance of eating their vegetables. They go into area classrooms to teach cooking classes, share fun nutrition information, and promote healthy food habits at an early age.

What does the ticket price cover, exactly?

Another great question! Once you buy your ticket, pretty much everything is covered. All the tacos samples you can eat, drinks, live music, desserts, a souvenir glass and a chance to vote for your favorite taco.   For VIP guests, your ticket includes early entry into the event, free parking and a few more perks. We may have t-shirts for sale and raffle tickets available for purchase, but if you just want to come and eat, drink and have a great time with your friends, your ticket price has you covered 🙂

What drink options will be available?

Along with the complimentary craft beer, craft hard soda, and margarita tastings available, we will also  have water and other non-alcoholic soft drinks available at no extra charge.

Will there be vegetarian taco options available?

Good question! Yes, we plan to offer vegetarian taco options and the ability to vote for your favorite vegetarian taco of the night!

Are children allowed at the Sacramento Taco Party?

You MUST be 21 years of age (or older) to attend the Sacramento Taco Party. For insurance reasons and because this event includes beer and margarita tasting, children and anyone under the age of 21 are not allowed at this event. ID's will be checked at the door.

Which restaurants will be participating in the Sacramento Taco Party?

The 2016 restaurant list will be announced soon 🙂 If your restaurant would like to participate, please fill out the form here.

There is so much interest for this event, yet due to the number of competing food events at this time, the October 11th event at Cesar Chavez Plaza has been cancelled. We will be refunding your ticket and processing fees in the next few days.
We originally intended this event to be a benefit for our charity partner, Food Literacy Center. Yet, because they're a small nonprofit with only six staff, the scale of this event would have taken them away from their core mission: teaching cooking and nutrition to kids in low-income schools.
